Junior Recruiter Hospitality - 30K-35K/year - London

We’re on the lookout for a big-hearted and first-class individual to join the People Team as our newest Talent-walla/i. This person is someone who naturally makes people feel at ease - they instinctively know the right questions to ask to understand a person’s experience (and potential!), and loves nothing more than helping people find their next role.

The recruitment market has changed significantly in the last year -especially in hospitality - and we’re working hard to make sure we’re ahead. This person will ideally have some recruitment experience to bring to the role. Be an accomplished interviewer, have a track record of tweaking (maybe even overhauling!) talent processes from end to end and can bring insight on how key initiatives have been successful.

If you have worked in recruitment or had exposure to it in some form, you’ll know, there is always lots to do! This role has a great balance of being hands-on with functional recruitment but also working on some great projects. If you’re forward-thinking, enjoy learning, and talent management is something that excites you, this is a great role for you.

About the Role:

You’ll be a key member of a small but perfectly formed talent team - we do things a little differently at Dishoom Restaurant & Cocktail Bar and this team is responsible for hiring all new Dishoom-wallas.

Functional recruitment

  • From interviewing to hosting open days – you’ll know how to spot top talent and be a natural at bringing them into our world and helping them feel at home.
  • You’ll help define our selection approach. Be well read on different selection techniques and help us ensure we are using the best ones to make the best selection decisions.
  • Making sure all our candidates feel comfortable, giving them the best chance to impress and ultimately deciding if they have what it takes to join our family.
  • Liaising with candidates post us meeting them to let them know the outcome - that’s all candidates, successful and unsuccessful ones.
  • Ensure seamless communication between the wider People team and our Babus in restaurants - keeping them updated with all hires so inductions and training can be planned.
  • Help manage our applicant tracking system and other recruitment inboxes. Quickly and effectively replying to all applications and scheduling interviews for Chefs as well as FOH.

Projects

  • Help define our approach to out-of-London recruitment – this is a focus for us. We know we can do it better and slicker, taking on-board the nuances of how each cafe and area works.
  • Working with the wider team, look at different parts of the recruitment funnel for all roles and plan interventions to help improve conversion.
  • Be part of a new-opening project for a team of new Dishoom-wallas - bring ideas to the table and help deliver on it being the smoothest opening to date.
  • Work with the wider team on how we build a great succession model for team members as well as Babus - a clear pipeline for talent and progression within Dishoom. Employer branding
  • Working with the wider talent team to make the experience of candidates on the day they meet us as special as possible - it being a big-hearted and first-class experience is a must.
  • By the nature of recruitment, there is a lot of material used to share with candidates to provide them with an insight into our world. You will ensure this is all fit for purpose and positions Dishoom in the best possible way.
  • Bring ideas to the table on how we can showcase Dishoom and our employer brand externally - find ways to make sure like-minded people know we are a great place to work through the not-so-typical job sources.

About you

  • Savvy - common sense and commercial mindset, experience of recruitment a must.
  • Maverick - you bring genius suggestions to the table, combining great thought & the latest trends.
  • Detail-oriented - you’ll pride yourself on this - meticulous attention to detail is a must.
  • Tech savvy - you’re confident with systems and quick to pick new ones up.
  • Doer - bags of focus and energy, a ‘can do’ kind of person • Centred - a calm and assured approach to all that you do
  • A good planner - solving problems without anyone ever knowing there was one.

Great jobs for great people

Jobs here are amongst the best: great training and benefits whilst working with truly first-class (award-winning!) restaurants. The pace is fast, the work is tricky and there’s never a dull moment. We know people are at their best when they have the opportunity to grow and develop - we make sure everyone at Babu House has the space and support to do just that. Apply Depending on your experience and what you can bring to the role basic pay will be around £30 - £35k Research shows that while men apply for jobs when they meet an average of 60% of the criteria, women and other marginalised groups more often tend to only apply when they check every box. So, if you think you have what it takes, but don't meet all the criteria we’re looking for, please still get in touch!

We would love to have a chat and see if you could be a great addition to our team.

  • Babu can be a term of respect in India but is more frequently used to refer to bureaucrats behind desks who don’t do much
